Acco's APU Life

大分のAPUで学生として過ごす二ヶ月間を綴る日記です。

Day12

2011/12/06 Tue.

In APU there is a popular event called multi cultural week to promote a specific country throughout a week. During the week a specific country's various events are held in a campus by students from the country.

This week is Sli Lanka week. Sli Lankan dishes are offered at Cafeteria. I ate 3 types of curry and soup for lunch. I love hot and spicy tastes so I enjoyed Sli Lankan foods. During the lunch, I saw Sli Lankan girls dancing at a stage. The dance was cute. I plan to go to a grand finale Sli Lanka week on Friday at the University hall.

After classes, I visited SALC again and met another Vietnamese TA. She was also talkative and told me a lot about APU and her experience of intern at Japanese company.

Many APU students from abroad are really eager to have a job in Japan. One of the reason is that it is a strategy of University to send many international students to Japanese companies. All English-based students are required to finish a Japanese language intermediate course, so both Japanese and English are common languages in the campus. APU also offers Japanese business manner seminar to students from abroad, such as how to use polite form or a lecture of must-to-know cultures to work in Japanese companies so that they can fit the Japanese company easily. Other reason is that students motivation to have a job in Japan or Japanese company is high. They seem to admire Japanese companies and Japanese life in Tokyo ( I might have a biased view... ) Chinese students have different reason. It is much more difficult to find a job in their home country because job-hunting in China for university grad becomes highly competitive recently.
It is a high season of job hunting and there are many students wearing recruit suits in campus, most of them are not Japanese.
